NDP Preview @ Padang

Last Saturday was one of the longest and most contenting day ever in my life. NDP Preview took place on Saturday and it lasted from morning till night. The usual morning procedures occurred only that, there are more personnel involved on Saturday’s event for a more stringent security standby. CVs were deployed to their location while we took the coach to our usual holding area at the F1 Pit Stop.

Unlike the other days, we had to undergo a security check before we’re allowed into the paddocks. After the checks, we went to our holding area, only to find that it was shut. So, common sense moved our legs up the stairs and to my pleasant surprise, we’re back to our old air-conditioned holding area on the 2nd level. Thank God… Well, guessed our comeback has lots of good stuffs in store for us. Breakfast was KFC, many thanks to the Exco Comm, was much better compared to the previous ones that they gave in the earlier trainings. Next, BRTC Sodexo came in with their packed briyani rice and I was on the verge of vomiting when I completed the course.

The afternoon parade begins with the burning sun scorching the heat on both the ground and on us. I can feel that the sun burning my skin away… It was a rather fast rehearsal which took only around 30mins. After the march past, we marched off to our holding area. Dinner was immediately served once we reached back. Passed on dinner to other things, I polished my boots to ensure its kilatness for the 1.5km route march that would held after the Parade & Ceremony segment. Not long after, we’re preparing ourselves for the Preview. Things looked rather exciting and anxious at the same time as for every show, a whole new different crowd was expected.

The parade were the same things and procedures with the musical interludes, presidential inspection and the usual Fue De Joír or “Fire Of Joy”. Soon after, we march out to the city with the City March from the Padang to the newest Marina Bay Sands Casino to take the Pledge and witness the spectacular fireworks which lasted for about 4mins. Here’s the highlight of the night. The reserve Parade Commander, LTC Md Fhadley led the pledge-taking and he make a mistake. A mistake that really ashamed me (I’m not sure about others on this). He could have forgotten the some words of the pledge. The funniest part of it is this. A little girl around the age of 7 recited the last line of the pledge with the missing words that LTC Fhadley missed out.

Right after the pledge taking, we waited for the remaining contingent to march off to their holding area and wasted about half an hour taking pictures and attracting the public's attention... Hahaz... Things happened very fast back in the holding area. We all had snacks and drinks and not long after, HOME SWEET HOME... =D
